I don’t think I’ve ever really documented my experience during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. I think I will do so now. To do so, I think I need to break apart the experience into little pieces or stories so I can explore all I remember and feel about that day—including prior through to the times thereafter.
Let’s break it down:

  • Queens – living, voting, commuting to/from
  • 7 Train — going into the city, seeing the towers on fire from LIC
  • In Manhattan
  • Times Square-42 Street
  • Walking from Spring St. “A” train down through the side streets
  • At work, on the street, on the roof, inside office
  • Jets, rumors, helicopters, poor internet and phone service
  • Seeing one tower down, watching other fall
  • Getting cash at the Chase
  • Ordering White rice
  • Walking north
  • Seeing Sikh Turban man being harassed
  • Old woman escorted down the street
  • In Queens
  • Corona — relative not coming home
  • Aftermath
  • Layoffs
  • Meeting future wife
  • Moving on from past relationships
